For 12 years, John has served as senior minister of FirstChurch. During this time, he has provided strong and relevant weekly sermon messages that help people to juxtapose the gospel of Jesus Christ with their lives. In addition, he has assembled a dynamic and talented collection of staff members, both clergy and lay, who lead an entire portfolio of weekly ministry and mission events. John loves being involved in the downtown Dallas community and he and his wife Sydney enjoy living in the Uptown area of Dallas. They have two grown daughters, Ryan Elizabeth and Jessica Livia, and one teenage boy, Jack, and love being grandparents as well.

For recreation, John’s hobbies include inline skating, golf, and watching college football.
