For 15 years, John has served as senior minister of First United Methodist Church, Dallas. During this time, he has provided strong and relevant weekly sermon messages televised on the ABC affiliate WFAA and on the World Wide Web live at www.firstchurchdallas.org. He helps people juxtapose the gospel of Jesus Christ with the events of their lives. In addition, he has assembled a dynamic and talented collection of staff members, both clergy and lay, who lead an entire portfolio of weekly ministry and mission events.
John teaches an online polity course through United Theological in Dayton, Ohio.
John chaired the Strategic Planning Committee of the North Texas Conference in
2009 – 2010 and has represented the conference before the Judicial Council.
John loves being involved in the downtown Dallas community and he and his wife Sydney enjoy living in the Uptown area of Dallas. They have two grown daughters, Ryan Elizabeth and Jessica Livia, and one college-age son, Jack, and love being grandparents as well.
For recreation, John’s hobbies include inline skating, golf, and watching college football.
