Dear First Church member,
There’s no other way to say it…I’m guilty. And maybe you are too. You see, I know I have a lot of blessings in my life. And for those blessings I know that I feel a great deal of appreciation. But do I take enough time to regularly thank God and everyone else for all that they do? Well…not exactly.
In fact...no. Maybe we both could use a little bit of help in the old expressions-of-gratitude department. Perhaps we need to revisit the power of: g r a t i t u d e
To this end, we are getting ready to kick off our 2010 budget campaign with the title “giving in gratitude.” Here’s how you can be a part:
1. Be on the lookout for a special packet to be mailed to you by
October 22, 2009.
This packet will contain:
a. A brochure explaining our 2010 budget
b. A letter from Finance Chair Cathy Bard
c. Your pledge card for 2010
2. Before you decide the amount of money you will pledge to fund our 2010 missions and ministries, please spend some time reflecting about the blessings in your life and your giving as a sign of gratitude. Make sure your giving is an external sign of the internal reality within your heart.
3. Make sure you see the “giving in gratitude” presentation that will be shown in worship on Sunday morning, November 8, or click here to watch it on our Web site beginning November 9.
4. Fill out your pledge card and bring it to church on Commitment Sunday, November 15. It is going to be a glorious day of music, preaching and prayer! You may also e-mail your pledge to Wendy Westberg at wwestberg@fumcdallas.org.
Know that I am grateful for you.
Yours in Christ,
Dr. John F. Fiedler
